Hong Kong profits tax filing service — read on, then see exactly what we handle and what it costs.
The profits tax return for a Hong Kong limited company is BIR51; for a partnership it is BIR52. Both must be accompanied by financial statements audited by a Hong Kong practising accountant, together with a profits tax computation. Read this alongside our profits tax filing service and limited company audit.
Which form applies to you
- Private companies and public companies: BIR51
- Partnerships: BIR52
- Sole proprietorships: the profits tax section of the individual tax return, not BIR51
Before you start, check that the company name, business registration number and financial year end date all match the details the Inland Revenue Department has pre-printed on the form. A director must sign the declaration.
Schedule of attachments
- Audited financial statements and the auditor's report
- Profits tax computation, showing tax adjustments and depreciation allowances
- iXBRL financial statements, where electronic submission applies
- Notes on offshore claims or other special items, if any
Where filings usually go wrong
Turnover that does not agree to the audit report; bank interest left off; depreciation allowances miscalculated; directors' current accounts treated as income. Each of these reliably draws a query from the IRD.
